Conveyancing is the legal process of transferring immovable property and managing bond registrations or cancellations. A conveyancer, a specialized attorney, handles this process by preparing and lodging documents at the Deeds Office.
The seller usually appoints the conveyancer, but this can be agreed upon with the buyer. A valid sale agreement, signed by both parties, is required for the transfer. If the buyer secures a loan, a bond must be registered.
The purchaser covers costs like transfer duty, legal fees, and rates, while the seller pays bond cancellation fees if applicable. The transfer and bond registration occur simultaneously to finalize the transaction.
